620 Clutch Troubles

I purchased a used 620 JD on 06-17-2000. The
tractor ran fine, but the clutch didn't disengage
very well. I assumed that I had to do some
adjusting. I drove it around a circle driveway for about 30 minutes. I tried to stop, but it was still in gear, so I turned off the engine. When I took off the Pulley Cover, I found no
movement of the 3 Bolts. I took off all the easy
parts. Next was the Fixed Clutch Drive Disk, P/N
A5642R. This part was very hard to remove, it took a lot of torch heat.

I removed all the easy parts and don't think that the 3 Bolts moved in the last 20 years, as I had to pound them out.

I bought about $800. worth of parts from JD, including a new Clutch Operating Sleeve, P/N A5503R. Next I had to remove the Pulley Gear, P/N A5501R. We tried to heat it with a torch, but no luck. We finally got a 10 ton Hydraulic Puller and removed it.

How do I tell when I have too much play in the 6 bosses that the 3 Dogs, P/N C74R mount in? If there is some measurement, I don't seem to find it in the PC528 Parts Catalog, SM2008 Service Manual, or the OMR2053 Operators Manual. If I have some wear, measuring with a Telescope won't tell me how I am out of round. My new Clutch Dog Pins, P/N D355R are just as sloppy as the old Pins.

Do I have to spend the $560. to the person for the rebuilt Flywheel?

If I am to drill out those 6 holes, how do I fit a 90 degree head on an Electric Drill? Say that I do it, then how hard must I make the 3 new Pins?

In addition to the previously mentioned Manuals, I bought 5 others that JD said might fit a 620. I also bought one from I&T. If I am missing something, just tell me and I will buy it.

Thank you,

Gordon why in the world did you buy all those parts,if you had to pound the three adjusting bolts out didn't that tell you something.Next time yoou get into something like this take some solvent and a wire brush and clean every thing up and inspect each piece. The C74-R an those little round headed toggles is probably all you needed. Pulling that operating sleeve off is a major chore, but you shoulf have a heck of a pulley and clutch assembly now. Gman
