I have a 1963 JD 2010. It has worked like a charm until I screwed things up. I did not know that it had positive ground and I fried the wiring trying to jump it. I have replaced the wiring harness and the voltage regulator and she still will not even try to start from the key. It will however start when I jump it from the solenoid to starter. It will run great with no problems. Looks as if I need to replace the ignition switch???? If someone could plz verify that with me. Also, is there a way to jump the wires from the wiring harness at the ignition switch to see if it will start. I have tryed with no success. Help!! Need my tractor back!

Check the fuses-most Dubuque tractors had a fuse on the dash. If it is blown the ignition switch will not work.

Sounds like you might need a ignition coil. I was charging the battery on my Power King Economy tractor(tractorbarn.com under"Greggs PK site" if you want". Anyhow it has a 3-position key and has a push-button starter. The 3 pos. key is OFF,ON-1,ON-2 the ON-1 doesn't do anything but keep the power on. I left it on ON-1 and the next morning there was a big splatter of oil and the wiring harness was burnt. I blew up the ignition coil. That oil in there is known to be cancerous,so I was careful wiping it up. Put another coil and wiring and it was fine. This probaly wasn't much help so Good Luck.

Hello Scott, The JD service manual SM-2035 has complete wiring diagrams for all variations of 2010's. Sounds like the switch but could be the connection at the solenoid. Sometimes the marginal connections open when stressed.
