Has anyone out there had any experience with the new John Deere Hibernator Batteries? Do they make a 6 volt battery? Thanks.

A Hibernator compaired to a Strongbox of similar physical case size has fewer but thicker lead plates. The lead is alloyed with calcium etc but a slightly different blend to sulphate less while sitting partialy discharged. Hibernators will have less cranking amps due to less lead to acid area for reaction but the thicker plates are more robust. It's alloyed to charge "faster" but less tolerant to high temperatures & overcharging than a Strongbox. The www.deere.com site has some pretty decent detailed info. If somebody who doesn't know any better & cranks a Hibernator to the last grunt. According to my Deere parts man it will "comeback to life" more if allowed to rest for a while compaired a Strongbox of the same CCA capacity and abuse. Going to put a Hibernator cxty21766 in my 435 next week.CCA=750,CA=900,RC=150 min, 4.8 quarts of electrolyte,"A" warrenty & 17 plates. The Strongbox of similar physical size cxty6128 has cca of 950A, CA of1140 & RC of 190 min holds 5.4 quarts of electrolyte,"D" warrenty & 22 plates. There are different 6V's to choose from. Bigger is better.

ABW-- Should be no problems. My belief is that the same battery is made at the battery factory could have the name of Exide or Delco on them. Dealerships put there own warranties on the life (months of service). In other words, each battery is the same but different. About the 6volt I'm not sure. I use JD battery's in everything that I own, just because of the service I recieve if I do have problems. luckydog
