? Correct Flywheel Cover Bolts

The manual for my 1950 "B" (Serial # 270162)calls for 4 - 5/16" machine screws to hold the flywheel cover on the main case. What type are correct for this late-styled B? Slotted machine screw, clutch head bolt, or hex head cap screw???

The manual also calls for a 5/16 x 15/16 stud in the top left bore which I have already installed.

The drawing in the manual looks like a slotted machine screw but I've seen all of the above on late-styled Bs. Any assistance will be appreciated.

Hey Ken, I got to looking after the answer I posted and now I'm not so sure about the flywheel cover bolts, like you said the parts book illustration looks like slotted round head(stove bolts)screws and I seem to recall seeing them both ways, I guess if nobody else answers it will be up to you and me to decide! If I can find something more definite I'll holler. Bob

Ken, Looks like no body is going to jump on this question. The late styled B would most likely have the hex/clutch head bolts as correct fasteners for the sheet metal. You could check with Joe at Correct Connection I think he has a link here somewhere or see his ad in Green Magazine or the Two Cylinder Magazine. He has the fasteners you might need in kits or individually. Good luck, nice to hear when folks want the details right. Bob
