Deere fellows: I've got a Ford 841 with goofy decals. The paint is not bad but the decals are for an industrial Ford and for an 850 rather than an 841. Is there a miracle chemical to remove decals (seems like I saw one advertised in a Deere brochure) or must they be sanded off. Can I remove them without needing to repaint? Thanks for any advice. Mike

Bet they messed up the paint to.You can use a hair
drier to get them hot and remove, but it usually
leaves an imprint in the paint,so you have to
repaint anyhow.Redoing 2 now a 530 and 730,good
paint but crappy JD decals.

Mike,
I would first try the heat gun. Apply just enough heat to make the decal soft and lightly raise it with a plastic razor blade. If any sticky is left on the paint I use a chemical from Kent that is called Acrysol. It will make the sticky glue soft enough to be rolled of, or taken off with a plastic razor blade.
Hope this helps...

The heat gun is a good idea, but I have also done the same thing with a hairdryer and a little bit of patience. Catch your wife gone shopping and give it a trycouldn't hurt.

mike,
what i would try is a heat gun first that are used to remove paint. be careful as to not get the paint too hot. this has worked great for me. a heat gun costs about 35 bucks.
best of luck
luke
