I am putting the camshaft back in my 49G. I installed the camshaft in the tractor so that the V-mark on the cam gear lines up with the dot on the crankshaft gear.

After this when I make a full rotation with the crankshaft the dot on the crank gear does not line up with the cam gear. After I make another rotation with the crankshaft the two gears index on the dots. I realize that I am rotating throught the different cycles. My question is.. is it possible to get the camshaft gear and the crankshaft gear out of time even if I have the two indicators indexed properly.

I think I have it correctly but I just want to make sure.

It sounds like you have them right. If they line up on one rotation they should be 180 degrees off on the next. Give or take a little. Best of luck, Scott

Like 49g said.. I think U have it right.. Just remember that the cam turns 1/2 the speed of the Crank.. So it takes 2 turns of the Crank to equal 1 of the Cam.. JDGnut
