A friend of mine has a 2640 with a loader and he was wondering if anyone still made a good heat-houser out of canvas, with the see through plastic windshield, and two sides. I think Hinson Mfg. in Waterloo Ia. was one place that made them, called a Hinson Weatherbrake, but they have closed. They were expensive but if taken care of they would last for years. Bought one a few years ago made from some sort of plastic material wasn't much good. Thanks for any input. Billybob

As long as there are no exhaust leaks a heater houser is fine. Carbon monoxide is dangerous in ratio's as low as 10 parts per million. By the time 100 parts per million are approached for any sustained duration you may have at least a headache or have gone drowsy or worse.

All is well if the exhaust system is tight but some tractors leak. It only takes 10 to 100 parts per million of C0 to leave a person with anything from head aches, to drowsy and worse.

Billybob,

Shoup Catalog carries the Hinson-Femco Weatherbrakes.
Their #800- 627- 6137. The are based in Kankakee, IL. Item #31470 looks like it would work for the 2640 @ $270. Give them a try. Quality Farm (CT) also carries a brand, but I'm not sure what kind. good luck
Bill

Where are you located. CT Farm & Country has them. Contact them in Des Moines, IA at 800-828-3276. I am from Waterloo, don't live there now, and I didn't think anyone had heard of Hinsons. Good luck.

My uncle had a Hinson Weatherbrake, on his model 50 years ago. Was a good rig. This was in Michigan in the 1950's.

Thanks for the input, we will give them a try we live just about 3 miles south of La Porte City Ia. which is about 15 miles south east of Waterloo Ia. I am retired from Deere Waterloo Works, downtown. My dad had a ply wood cab on a Super 77 Oliver back in the early 60's but no kersen heater. Seriously, thank you very much for the help.

We lived 3 miles north of Waterloo and a mile east. I worked in the old M foundry for 6 years.
