The '49 A I'm working on came with most of what appears to be a 3 point hitch. The top connection, however is missing. Does anyone have information on 3 point hitches for JD model As? I'm not sure if my tractor has an aftermarket hitch or if it was standard equiptment. I've been looking around for any type of picture or description but cannot find one.

Thanks,
Todd

Todd,
The A's never came from the factory with a 3-pt hitch. Deere's first true 3-pt came with the introduction of the number series in the mid 1950's. This hitch was the 800 series. Im not sure if these hitches had serial numbers on them or not. I also have a 49 A with a 3-pt, but it has a aftermarket hitch.

Todd-- The numbered tractors 3pt hitches would work on lettered tractors. Don't know whether you have an after market hitch or a JD hitch. The top link was a 3piece unit which came off the lower links on a JD hitch. Sorry I have no pics luckydog
