I bought a 60 JD about 50 miles from home, man said it didn't have fluid in the tires, and gussed it would weigh around 5000lbs. is this about right? Want to haul it on a 16ft bumper hitch trailer that has 2 3500lb axles, with near new 6 ply tires. If that is about the correct weight of the tractor I wont have any problems there, but, my trailer is 6ft. 4ins. between the fenders. The tractor has 13-38s and are set out to 7ft 8ins. Can they be set in far enough to clear my trailer fenders? thanks.

My 60 weighs 5900 with 14.9 tires, no weights, and 3 point hitch. It fits on my trailer which is 6'6" wide and if the wheel were in real tight against the clutch I would have about 3" to spare. Good luck. Mike

Hello Joe.I have a 16 ft bumper trailer that I haul my 70 on and I have 15.5's on the rear.My trailer has the rails on the sides so I had to move the wheels all the way in.I am not gonna say it ain't tight because it is but it will work.My 70 weighed 6500 lbs.at the last pull I attended.A 60 should not be any problem.Good choice,I am concidering buying a 60 myself.Good luck and be sure to check your lug nut torque on the trailer after a few miles.Jack(TN).

From a July 1954 brochure, the shipping weight (probably without fluid in the tires) is 5,300 lbs.

The rear wheel tread is adjustable from 56" to 88", so you should be able to move the wheels in far enough - I would not predict how easy it might be, however. Are they pretty rusted in place? Good luck.

Morning Stan, thanks for the comeback, 5300 wont hurt anything, the man said that he had moved the wheels out sometime last summer, and put anti-scize compound on the wedges. the axels are clean, dont think it will be a real hassel, just cold. again, thanks.

Joe,

Are you any relation to a Joe Allen who grew up in Crawfordsville, Indiana?
