Nostalgia...I remember as a young fellow in the early sixties..an outfit out of Saskatoon,Saskatchewan [can't remember the name] offering big bore pistons and blocks for most if not all of the 2 cly engines. These increased displacement considerably in each model size. I've been away from the farm over 30 years...does anyone remember this..curious to know

are you thinking of power blocks? I know there are a lot of people with info and interest in them, but I don't know where they came from...

I have one in my 60, so that's why I mentioned it. Basically, they made models for A and G series tractors (maybe B?) that changed piston sizes from 5.5 to 6" for the 60 and from 6 to 6.5" for the G, and included high compression pistons. For the 60, which was just a later version of the A and shared the same block as late A's, the company claimed it would add between 18 and 23 hp (the tractor was 40 originally) I don't know who exactly made them, but they were sold at TSC in the early 60's, and the one in my 60 was put in in '69. I'm sure the hp increase was there at the start, but my other 60 without a power block can still outwork the one with it, but generally they are quite sought after by tractor pullers, especially in the G series. Another historical note: TSC started stocking transmission parts for these tractors soon after power blocks, and a bent shaft was why mine "hibernated" in the barn for 24 years!
