My 1940 Deere H has a drawbar with a 2" x 3/4" cross-section. Appears to be fairly hard, maybe 100,000 psi or more? (Mild steel is around 40,000psi). Does anyone know the cross-section of the bigger tractors, the B, A, G? And how hard the material is? Thx

Just for kicks take it to a High School or College and ask them to do a rockwell hardness test, only takes a minute and you should know what you have for hardness with no problem. Tensile strength test would ruin the bar. Bob

My '41 B drawbar measures 2" X 7/8". I have no idea about the strength of it other than that it was used from 1941 until the mid to late '80s, I'm estimating. It didn't break or wear out.

Hope this helps,

Stan
