This is a dltx34 which after some work now hand starts and idles good but won't rev up. In the cleaning process I was never able to get the brass jet? out that runs up throught the center of the carb. Any ideas? I suspect this is the problem? Also, how much play around the throttle/choke shafts is tolerable? I appreciate any advice.

Durbco I have had pretty good luck in removing the nozzles from jd carbs. in this manner. use a 3.5 in long 6/32 screw insert it with a a large washer from the bottom end then from the choke end of the carb. reach in and slip a washer and a nut onto the screw.then tighten the screw and it should come free .unless it is really frozen good luck

durbco, some DLTX's have a bottom bushing that has a closed end in it, others have a metal plug over the bottom bushing bore. In either case drive the lower bushing or the plug out with a rod inserted through the top bushing, then tap the top & (bottom bushing if it is still in there) to accept a bolt, then thread a bolt in a few turns & drive the bushing out by driving on the bolt with a rod inserted through the opposite bushing bore. When installing the new ones make sure the new bushings are flush with the inside of the carb. bore or you will have a poor idle & off idle lean out because incomming air will by-pass the idle holes by going around the ends of the throttle plate...

My 38 B has a DLTX 10 on it. To remove its brass nozzle, I drill and tap the bottom of it with I think a 10 24 then use a bolt with 3 screws all together (cause 1 stripped) and washers to reverse pull it out. The throttle shaft/bushings shoudnt have any side to side play at all to be correct and the bushings should be as close as possible down in the bore. Be sure and remove the 3 idle circuit drill plugs and bore them out with 40 and 53 drill bits and clean the nozzle and its bore so it slides up and down easy. I had mine 90% right but thats not as good as when Robert Beaver got it and made it 100% Ol John T
