I posted earlier about a 4010 diesel bringing $5350 at an auction in southern in. At the same auction A 6600 gas combine that was sheddded brought $150 13 grain table(rigid) brought $50 and 444 corn head brought $975 What is the deal, were 6600 and 7700 a lemon machine I heard something about them having a bad straw walker design.

That's the cheapest shedded combine that I ever heard of. This summer I saw a JD 105 go for $260 I thought that that was a great buy, sat outside for maybe a year included the bean head (rough) I needed some work but nothing real serious. Felt sorry for the owner, he drove it 30+ miles to get it there.Engine fired right up I would have paid at least $260 for the gas engine.

They are outdated, that is all. There was nothing all that wrong with them, they have just outlived their usefullness for the most part. There are some still hard at work, but most of these sold anymore are for parts or for a "backup". I feel sorry for the guy who sold it, cause it was probably a very sentimental machine that he took great care of.

On a combine like that, there would have to be a lot of potential buyers at a sale for it to bring more than $1000. The grain head is not worth anything any more either. Seems folks consider a 20 ft. head small anymore.

BTW Location, location, location. Where this stuff sold is all relavent to the price it brings.

Wish I could find a good 6600 around my neck of the woods for $150, then I could get even with the ol' 510 Massey. Around here the dealers are asking $5-7000 for a good 6600.

Location is a very key word. Also I believe you are seeing first hand the effects of a very serious agricultural depression.
