Hey can the final drive be removed off from the main case on a 1949 "B" with power trol? Can the power trol stay on and just unbolt from the main case and roll it back I need to change the gasket at the main case it looks like the shaft that drives the power trol and pto goes in and up to a bevel gear and will just roll back with the final drive housing. any help will be handy. Thanks CjW

Woody:

Yes, you can do that. Most advise that you remove the pto shaft so you don't risk bending it as you roll/slide that rear end assembly aft. You might need to balance it with a floor jack. I removed the axle housing once on a '48 "A", but I had already removed the rear housing and powr-trol along with it. The axle housing rolls away pretty nice that way.

There was a thread dicsussing just this repair down the page a ways.
