Oil Filter Bottom Leaking

Oil is leaking between the oil filter bottom, copper gasket, and nut. The oil filter bottom is new as is the copper gasket, and the nut is a used one in good condition.

Any suggestions on how to stop the leak?

Further tightening of the nut may put too much pressure on the stud and thus distort/bend the top of the canister. Note that the stud is not perfectly vertical and required some force to position it so the oil filter bottom would fit in the channel and seal on the rubber gasket.

Ken, it sounds like the oil filter body is already distorted with the stud being crooked. You are right in not overtightening it. First make sure you have only one "o" ring seal in the case for the cover (it is very hard to tell just by looking, you will probably have to use an ice pick or sharpened wire & poke at the case to tell for sure). Then you can try 2 copper rings on the nut if it still leaks then put some loc-tite thread sealer on the copper ring before installing. Be careful tightening it as your body is starting to distort.
