My 50 B just ate all the splines off the flywheel (where it mates with the crank)while I was driving the tractor from the barn to the field. Any idea what could have caused this? Anyone know where I can get another flywheel?

Appreciate all of your help.

Jim you might try Shorty Dear in Perryton Tx.1-806-435-3968. He might have the flywheel you need. As far as you loosing the splines on the flywheel, you might of had a fracture, or stress crack in the flywheel causing the flywheel to get loose. Last night I found the flywheel on my wifes 1944 AO has a crack that runs with the splines. Even with a small crack you are running with a so called time bomb, and it is not pretty to see what a flywheel can do if it leaves the tractor at full RPM in pieces. You were very lucky that the flywheel did not eject itself from the tractor. And if it did count your blessings. Those flywheels take a fears beating while the engine is running.

it was probably loose flywheel bots you need to make sure you keep those flywheel bolts tight. you should be able to find a fly wheel in a junk yard somewhere since there were so many b's parts are fairly easy to locate hope this helps. brian
