I have seen in some places that in 1950 a distributor became standard equipment on the Model B. Mine has a mag. Is this original or did someone replace the distributor. There is no indication of a celenoid or distributor. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Paul is right about the mag being a Wico X.

An article in Green Magazine says, "The Wico C magneto was replaced by the Wico X at Serial Number 217799. Distributor ignition was adopted and made standard at serial number 268820 using the Wico XD distributor, though magneto ingition continued to be offered at the same price".

The 217799 serial number would have been in the 1948 model year and the 268820 would have been a 1950 model, as you thought.

More details than you wanted, I'll bet!!

I believe that in 1950 the Wico XB distributor became standard on your B, but the magneto could be ordered as an option from the factory. I think there was no extra charge for it. The correct magneto would be a Wico "X" type. Paul
