I have the DLTX-26 carb off of my 39 H. The flange that bolts to the manifold has been welded (very ugly weld). I was planning to rebuild the carb but I'm not sure it's worth it. Everything in it is rusty. How about it? Should I rebuild it or find a better one? Thanks in advance
Frank

Frank, it depends on what you want to spend. You can probably grind that ugly weld down & start over. (I have done a couple re-welds on poor carb flange repair attempts & had very good success, I grind them down then re-weld then grind again then go over the weld area with an air powered needle de-scaler to roughen up & make look like casting then sand blast)..... You can try "Roberts Carb Repair" to see what he would charge to repair or replace.

Thanks, Clooney. I've already bought a kit but I think I'll give Robert's a call. I'd rather let a professional handle this.
By the way, the wheels turned out great.

Frank, glad to here the rim replacment went good. Did you have any trouble setting the rivets?.... If you decide to buy a new (used) carb, a DLTX 46 will work good also, you will have to use the choke shaft & lever from your DLTX 26 (non choke rod type) the 46 choke will work ok but looks funny on a hand start.

The only trouble I had was my little air compressor wasn't big enough to run the air hammer for very long. I did one thing different. while the guy was here making the spot welds, I had hin use his torch to cut small holes for the rivets. Then I used a drill to make them round. The only railroad iron I could get my hands on was about 6 ft. long. No problem, I used the bed of my pickup for a workbench. Thanks for the information.
