My 730 diesel started leaking oil at the ps
pump.Still works good, but leaves a puddle
over night. How much trouble is it to fix this
thing.Looks like a job getting the pump out.
Thanks.

Hey Ray done this job on a 730 gas and it IS a job. Basicly take the hood and grill cover off and take everything off attached to the pump and everything around it. While your have it off check the pedistal it is mounted on for cracks, I've busted two and lucky I didn't lose a radiator!! If it is cracked get it welded now it will be a lot easier and cheaper that later. Also check your lines going up front sometimes they crack and can give you trouble. As far as the pump is concerned you can get the rebuild kit and it can be rebuilt but you need a press to remove the fan from the front of the pump as it all comes off in one piece. If you don't have a press take it to a dealer or a mechanic with a press, you will be miles ahead if you do. My two bits, let me know if you run into any trouble been a couple of years since I tore mine down but gonna have to work on it some this winter.

I don't recall if it has to come out but I think you have to take it loose and maybe lean it forward (?). Like I said been a while. You will have to pull the fan shroud and the fan stays on the pump when it comes out, I do remember that. While you are in there it is not that a big a deal to replace the O rings on the upper radiator pipe and the ones on the back of the fan shaft. There is something in the memory banks about that shaft so be careful around it, it may pop out on you. Do you have a service/shop manual?
