Any major difference between a 1939 H and a 1947 H?

I'm looking at a real nice 1939 H with hand-start with overhauled motor, new magneto and some other things redone for $3,000.00. Should I look at a later model, say a 1947 model or does this sound pretty good? Any changes in the later models?

Gerry, the 39 is a much different tractor than the 40 & later, but don't let that keep you from buying it if it is already restored. The only reason not to get a 39 is some of the parts are getting harder to find (read, more expensive). Neither the 39 or 40 & later is a very useful tractor to have around (no 3point, not much power, not much traction) but make a perfect parade, play & fun tractor & they are real easy to haul on a car trailer. The price is about the same on both tractors & resale is about the same. I have a 39 & wouldn't part with it for anything as it makes a good starting engine for the hard starting older tractors in cold weather. The MAJOR differences are... different main case, different cam, different clutch& pulley, different shifter tower (high can), different muffler, different front wheels (most people can't tell though), narrower rear wheels, and more.
