As I am working here on my JD B the brakes are currently ceased up (the pedals won't move) I removed the whole brake assembly from the tractor, what should I look for, do etc?

Thanks,

Karl

Karl, I will add to what clooney said by saying that in a desperate situation I have drilled small holes in the casting where the pedal shaft or the adjuster bolt go through. You can then spray some penetrating oil in this hole and the brakes will come loose much quicker. When you are done fill the hole with JB Weld, a ball bearing, or whatever. Sometimes these brakes really get frozen and the penetrating oil simply can't travel as far as needed. Hope this helps. Mike

Karl, first remove the drums & all the brake shoes, springs etc. Then try to get some type of penetrating oil to work in around the brake pedal shaft, caution! don't force it, just start working it very gently. Pull the pedal off & try to get the oil in at that spot also. If it has oilers on it fill them with penetrating oil also. Try tapping the shaft with a brass hammer or brass drift (don't beat on it with a steel hammer) it will take time but it will free up.
