Can I use Mapp Torch to braze muffler cap on?

I purchased a replacement muffler for my 1946 John Deere Model A at Farm and Country. The muffler was too long so I carefully removed the cap and cut the main body of the muffler to the appropriate length. I now need to re-attach the cap to the main body. I have a Mapp Gas torch and want to use it to braze this cap back on. Can this be done ? What type of brazing rod should I purchase ? I have no welding experience.

Thanks in avance,
Mike

sounds like you have one of those Tiawan mufflers, my recommendation is to take it back and get your money back and get the regular JD muffler made by Stanley.

Turns out that the muffler is a "Stanley" brand muffler. I can't explain why it's so darn long. The research I've done shows the muffler should be just slightly higher than the intake stack. This thing was 4-5 inches longer than that.

Just figured this would be a fun project.
