I'm ready to install the headbolts on my B. I have been told in the past that you have to install them by putting the correct end into the block, or you can damage the block/head. I plan on reusing the old ones and can't tell which end id the "correct" end. Can anyone clue me in? My I&T doesn't seem to say anything about it. Does it really mattter? One end seems to be more ronded than the other. Any hints? Thanks in advance.

The flat end goes inward towards the block.

An IT manual is best used for a door stop. One small book cannot contain all the info required for one tractor let alone many models. Get the real Deere service and parts manual from here at YT or from Deere at 1-800-522-7448. Bargan if they were twice the price.

If you look at your head bolts you will notice on one end the bolt is flat, and the other is more rounded. The flat end goes in the block. The round end is the nut end. Hope this helps. Mike

Look at the threads-I recall the block end has a bit longer set. Also, I believe the stud on the upper left side is a bit longer--Check a parts book to be sure.
