I already have a JD 720 narrow font with elecric start, but I have the chance of buying a JD 720 with a wide front end, original 3-point hitch, and pony motor. The guy wants $2,500 for it. I was wondering if it was worth the money and if there are any major problems dealing with the pony motors. The sheet metal is in great shape, but the grille needs replaced. Paint is fair. Also is the wide front end considered rare on the JD720

Bill, It ain't worth it don't bother with it at all. uh by the way where's it located? I'm just picking on ya. The three point can bring between 800-1,000 dollars if original. the wide front if original can bring the same. Worst case that's 1,600. then there's the sheet metal, 3-4 houndred a peice for the back wheels and rims, front rims around 25dollars a peice, plus all the transmission gears, and block. I guess What I'm saying is that if you weren't in a hurry you could part that puppy out and still make about 500 dollars on it if you buy for 2,500. ofcourse the poney is a pain, and if bad you will pay through the nose for one, but look at it this way, if you get done with it, and it is totally referbished and painted, and you can keep it under 5,000 you won't loose money. I'd buy one for that complete in a heart beat for 2500. Good Luck. Greg H. Ps. Are you located out in the mid-west. Just wondering, because a tractor like that hear back east will bring around 3,500 and that's if you're buying it of an IH fan, who just wants it out of his way. Again Good Luck.

One sold recently at the Collectors Center auction for around 25K, profit may be even better than that.

Hey thanks for the information. Actually I'm from a small town in western Pennsylvania, and the sound of the Two cylinder thumping away will be heard soon. Thanks again
