I'm helping a friend replace a manifold on a B and cannot get the fan shaft assembly off of the govenor housing. The 3 bolts at the govenor housing have been removed and the 2 at the fan end bearing housing are removed and the Flange (housing) that bolts to the govenor housing doesn't come out. It can be pried out but springs right back into place. Help!!!

Thanks

You have to move the radiator forward or remove the governor to get sufficient fore/aft distance to get them out. To remove the governor case, theres an oil line (Ol Shorty Dear is right) up underneath that has to be removed. When replacing, remember the matched bevel gears (fanshaft/governor shaft) are aligned and backlash adjusted by using different thickness gaskets on the fanshaft and governors bearing end cap. Dont forget to get the governor/cam gears timed right also. Ol John T

I think there is an oil line that needs to be uncoupled. Pry the governor housing up a little to make room to loosen the coupling nut. After you get the oil line loose, the governor will come completely off. Good luck
