Just purchased a 50 JD A. It is dual fuel, so there is a lever to switch tanks. Will this lever shut off the fuel, or should you shut off at the sediment bowl? I tried at thte sediment bowl, but it keeps spinning, so I assume it is either broke, or it is a 90 degree on, and off. Anyone send in there carbs to have a professional overhaul kit put in? Any recommendations?
Thanks

Your tractor could very well be a gas tractor, even with the two tanks. The first late A's had a 14 gallon fuel tank, which was a little small and customers started to complain to Deere about that. In the 1950 model year as an interim measure the all-fuel hood and tank were furnished which added an extra gallon of fuel. Later on the main fuel tank was increased to 18 gallons. See if your tractor has a heat shield under the tank. If it does, it is a gas tractor. Your fuel shutoff will turn clear around- one way is off and a quarter turn is on. I have one of these tractors and very seldom use the small shutoff. Hope this helps. Mike
