I brought home a 40 the other night, narrow front. (2 tires) I was just checking the serial number and ran into confusion factor. the plate says model 40. Ser. NU 67130
I find it in a couple areas so do I have a standard? A tricycle? or what?
If any one would like to help by answering some questions on the charging system I would appreciate that. Bob

If the front wheels are close together under the engine, it would be a 40T. Tricycle. Looking at the serial numbers on TOdds tractor page it looks like it would be a 53 model. www.jd40.com
Do you have questions concerning the charging system?
I have worked on mine some, though no expert.
