Hauled hundreds of old tractors. All you need is
2 chains,one on each rear wheel.Utility tractors,
one chain across center. It's funny at some of these shows, you see city slickers with 4 chains
on an 8N ford.

Bob, heres how I haul my B. I use four point chains (all about 45 degrees like an X to the

tractor) \_____/ that each pull in equal but / \

opposite directions, two front and 2 back. On the front on the frame rails just behind the radiator, I have two clevises that go through frame rail holes one on each side. I use two rear chains each hooked to a clevis on the drawbar. That way its stretched front and back and side to side all at 45 degrees and I set the brakes and have it in low gear. I prefer chains because the air in the tires provides enough stretch without any added stretch of straps. Put about 10 to 15 percent of the trailer and tractor weight on the tow vehicles tongue weight. John "T" Nordhoff

Thanks John, the part about the clevis in the front frame is the magic for me. I have hauled a fair amount, just no narrow fronts and did not want to hook to the wrong part. I will take a couple clevis's along. Can you tell me off the top what size hole that is? I wont see the tractor till I make the trip to haul it back. I think I have 1/2 and 5/8 pins on the clevis's I have now.

Bob, on my unstyled 38B the holes in the front bottom of the frame are only like 1/2 to 5/8 inch in which I put the small horseshoe shaped clevises with screw in type pins. I have short chain sections through the clevises with slip hooks on the ends that I attach my chains too so I dotn scratch the tractor. John T
