I added another new toy to the stable this evening. I bought a slant dash A with 3pt. hitch, loop drawbar, new rims and tires, nice uncut hood with original muffler, and good straight sheetmetal. I am not sure of the year yet, because it was in a small shed and the light was dim. I din't hear it run although it turns over and had enough compression I could barely roll the flywheel. I figured I couldn't pass it up. The only thing I could find wrong is that the fan shaft dosen't turn. I assume I will have to work on it at the governor end. I don't think I did too bad. I got the tractor and a IH Little Genius 2-14 plow on rubber for $800. Now who has advice on the fan? Thanks Bill {Antique Acres}

Hi again Bill. I cant ever make it to Lanesville because its the same weekend as Elnora. If the fan aint turning, just remember the horizontal governor shaft turns it (via the matched fanshaft/governor bevel gears) and the cam gear turns that. Remove the mag or distributor to insure the governor shaft is turning and if it is, its gotta be in the bevel gear drive maybe a stripped gear or more likely a key that holds a gear to a shaft. You have to either move that darn radiator forward or remove the governor itself to get the fan shaft out of the governor housing. If you remove the governor, be sure and mark the timing and theres that oil line underneath connected to the governor case. If the new fanshaft/governor bevel gears arennt matched and meshed properky you will get a big time whine. They are meshed by adjusutng the shim gaskets under the fan shaft and horizontal governor bearing end caps. Ol John T

Hi---Bill I didn't make it to Lanesville Pull good thing I didn't My "G" threw a fit still working the bugs out,here you'all had a real nice pull. About the fan shaft sounds like you need to pull it off and disassemble it,and replace a few bearings,when you pull fan assembly off be sure to mic.shim pack on governor end to get gear mesh back to were the gears are running,they are a match set,also taking fan off is tricky,if little keepers are froze up use a little penetatrating oil and patience because you are dealing with some fragile pot metal. If you run into a problem drop me a line. Garland

Wish you could have made it, but I all to well understand about trators acting up. We had a very nice 3 day pull. There were several tractors there that had pulled at the National Farm Machinery Show this year, and a lot more with that caliber. We had a real nice truck pull also. Thanks for the help on the fanshaft, I am sure I will be asking more about it. Thanks Bill {Antique Acres}
