I was just wondering if anyone could explain the difference between a 630 Standard and a 630 row crop? My father and I currently have a 1959 630, and we were just curious about what model it is.

Thanks.

Thanks for all the great info. As I had originally suspected, she's a row crop. It has a Roll-O-Matic front with 38 inch rears and adjustable axles. My Dad was debating trading it off for a newer one, but I think I have him talked into keeping it. It needs some work though, it just ate it's starter, has a big crack in the exhaust manifold, and keeps throwing the belt off. Hopefully this winter I can get around to welding it up a bit, and we have a new starter on order. ($230.00, ouch!) Now if we could just find the fenders that disappeared 25 years ago!
Thanks Again.

My '59 630 never has had fenders, so ours may have never been there to start with.

A row crop has an adjustable rear axel, and a standard doesn't have adjustable axels if it is a row crop with a wide front end then the front end is usually adjustable, while a standard front end isn't. A 630 row crop would have 38" rear tires and a 630 standard would most likely have 30" rear tires

My 620 standard which for all intents and purposes is a 630 has ajustable rear axles and solid cast front axle.

All Standards I have seen are very low profile (maybe smaller diameter rear wheels), all have wide heavy built front ends, while row crops are higher clearance and most are tricycle, but can still have wide fronts. If it looks like a regular old A or 60 or 620 etc. shes a row crop, but if shes very low slung with an industrial looking wide front, it may be a standard. The standards resemble the AR/AO or BR/BO or other Orchard Tractors or the R type tractors a bit. John T

Sorry, I forgot to say. The engine and sheetmetal is the same as a row crop. I also think the transmission, but I'm not sure.

A standard is a tractor built low, not for cultivating. They were also called "wheatland" tractor because cultivation was not needed. It's built low like a John Deere D or R.
