I came across an "A" recently. The guy "thinks" its a '49. As far as the year, I can tell the year exactly once I get a chance to see her up close, (I'm going to look at it this weekend)so far I've only seen it from the road. He says it will run, and has a new mag, but he "burnt up" the battery. It also has a 3 point on it. He stated he has $600 in it and would like to get that much out of it. QUESTION: Assuming its not frozen, and may only need "minor" repairs, I'm thinking I've found a pretty darn good deal. Do you all concur? I know there is not much to go on here, but what do you think? Thanks.

Marcus

It sounds like a good deal to me, as long as major repairs are not required. I'd check the compression on the engine and listen for "bad" sounds from the transmission while it is running. You also might wnat to look at the spline on the crankshaft where the clutch attaches. The "burnt up" battery probably means you will have to buy a voltage regulator.

Yep... I'm thinking "deal" is a pretty fair description. Hope it works out for you.

I ended up making the deal for $550. Needs some cosmetic work, and has an alternator instead of a generator. The hood has been cut for muffler, and a couple of holes for I don't know why. Was able to turn it over by hand using the clutch pulley. One Tire need replacing, but all in all think I did pretty good. Will be letting you know how this project comes along.
