I'm going to have my 1976 JD 2240 painted in a few weeks and was trying to get some information on a very good paint in JD green and yellow. Thanks

I used JD paint from the JD dealer. Also JD primer. Did not use hardner, didn't need it. I bought JD thinner and mixed per instructions, had no trouble with it running and it dried quickly so you can spray the next coat. If it runs you may be putting too heavy a coat on each time. I did three coats of primer, 5 of paint.

Use John Deere paint. Agricultural Green and Yellow. I used two different lot numbers and one dried quickly and one dried slow. Both matched perfectly and I did not use a hardener; not necessary.

hey,
if you want to be shure of a good paint use only the best: John deere green and john deere yellow. If you can find someone who wont mind taking some time the best thing that i can say is to use regular john deere enamel with hardener in the paint. The hardener will make the paint job shine better than when it was new!! I just had a 1937 "b" painted and i can see myself from about 5 ft. away in the hood!!! The only problem with this paint is it really likes to run, you have to spray a light coat and leave and come pack in a few hours and do it again. Like i said its hard, but the result is amazing!
Just my $.02,
