I have a friend who is in the excavating business, as was his father. Anyway, the fathers first backhoe was mounted on a 440-I. Several years ago the backhoe was seperated from the tractor and sold off. Now that my friend is restoring the tractor, he would like to get another backhoe for the machine. He thinks it was a 60 or a 60A or something like that. Being a nice IH guy, I said I would see what I could find out. I am located in PA. Can you green guys give us any suggestions? Thanks in advance for all your replys. Phlogiston

I just bought a 440I with a model 71 loader and a model 50 backhoe. The equipment appears to be original and correct for this machine. I am currently milking this website for info and hats off to everyone for the great info.

Just out of curiosity, what did you have to pay for your 440I with the attachments? Do you know where I might find a model 50 backhoe?

1958, real good 71 loader, 3point hitch, remote hydro, reverse shuttle, power steering, repaint, Tractor in good condition everything works, 12 volt, engine runs good but will need rings{minor overhall}110 lbs compression both cyl. Drive train & shuttle tight.50 backhoe in poor condition, needs all cyl rebuilt and hoses, I do my own work so no problem.
$3000 I hope the drive train holds up, I am searching for parts now. Don"t know of any attachments, will post if I run across a hoe for you.I"m in New York GOOD LUCK!!!!

I purchased at a auction 3 years ago a 440I just as you have described. Has the backhoe and loader. Year built is 1959. Everything works, however I will be doing some rebuilding. Do you konw of any good sources for parts? I want to convert to 12volts. It also needs brakes.
