Make sure the fuel cap is venting properly, the tank is clean, the screen in the sediment bowl is still in place and finally the screen on the inlet fitting to the carb (unscrew the brass elbow/adapter to check). If the plugs are fouled then go to a hotter plug. I once had a 1010 that done the same, the steel line from the sediment bowl to carb was rusted inside and plugged the screen on the elbow to the carb.I replaced the elbow and routed a new steel line with an inline fuel filter(screw on type with inverted flare nuts). It used some oil and hated the recomended Champion plugs, went to a hotter plug and had no more problems. PS. I hate Champion plugs but sometimes you can't get a hotter plug in an Autolite or AC plug.

Been there Done that. Have him pull the plugs out and see if they are wet like and black looking. Also ask him about his oil consumption. What I'm thinking is that his tractor might be running rich, and fouling out at least one or more plugs. This can be caused by an out of adjustment carborator. Also check to see if the choke cable is strong, and holding the air flap wide open. Mine wasn't, and the air comming into my intake on the carb, was sucking it about half ways shut. Truely messed up my mixture, and contributed to fouled plugs. Also when he's running the engine for a while do you see alot of white smoke comming out the ventilator pipe. If so he might be getting some blow by, and oil getting to the plugs and fouling them some. My tractor was also burning some oil, and when it was running for a while, or idiling around it seemed to Foul plugs worse. There are alot of variables, and beleive me I've had to adress alot of them on my gas 4020. I used to say if you have a neighbor you don't like buy him a gas 4020, it will drive him crazy and bankrupt him. Now that I've straightened mine out{knock on wood}, I wouldn't trade it for anything. Good luck, Greg H.
