My neighbor had a JD farm tractor in the late '60s which had dual exhaust. it was styled like the 4020s. Could it have been a 5020? Any info,or specs.?

I saw a 5020 at the Ag expo in Moultrie last year that had a V-8 with dual exhaust. Don't remember what brand engine. The engine was yellow like a Cat.

The 5020 did not have dual exhaust as it left the factory. As far as I know, no Deere tractors have had dual exhaust, but I could be wrong.

Some people did have problems with the 5020 engine when they turned up the HP. If you turn up the HP, it may start to run a bit warm, when that happens, they have a tendency to crack the block between the cylinders. This is not to say that you would have this issue, but it did happen.

A semi popular thing used to be to replace the Deere engine with a Detroit Diesel, or Cummins. It is easy to have dual exhaust on a V style engine, and that could be what was up with the tractor your neighbor had.

Tell me more about your tractor with the tranny problem as in how much in $$$ and where are you. I also have a few items I would like to trade, maybe we can deal. Thanks, Joe
