I recently bought a 1977 2040 got it home and got it running. Front end loader works fine (little jerky) but ok. Previous owner had a gannon on it and it was hyd.

My 3 pt hitch doesn't raise or lower with the lever, you can raise and lower it by hand with no resistance at all. There are several hyd lines with quick disconnects hanging towards the rear. I assume these were for the rams on the gannon. Any tips, help, or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Tex

Tex Remove the tranny fill cap and look inside with a flashlight up near the top you should see a cam and a roller assmbly. 99.999 times out of 100 the cam is broken or the roller is on the wrong side of the cam. It has been to may years since I have worked on the 2040. But I do remember that if the cam is broke you have no powerlift. Get ahold on JDGNutt and he can tell you as to which side the roller is suppost to be on. The only problem you might have is finding a good shade tree to work under and when you lower the Rockshaft Housing make sure you get the roller in the correct location.
