Restoring the PS pump on my 50. It has 2 oil seals at each end of the main shaft but the parts book shows only one. Anyone know if there was a field retrofit upgrade here? I'm planning to put all four seals back in unless someone knows a good reason there shouldn't be four. Also the PS service manual says use shellac between pump body parts when re-assembling. I plan to use very light Permatex. Seems that should be better than shellac. Comments and advice please. Thanks.

The old seal was a bouble lip seal, built in one piece. The new uses two seals back to back. Inside seal goes lip in to hold oil in, outside seal goes lip out to keep dirt out. No.3 Permatex is about the same as gasket shellac.
