I have a '51 JD-AR that is next in line for restoration after I finish the current project. I am considering adding an aftermarket 3pt, since this tractor is a wide front (I have hills) and has enough horsepower to be a useful working tractor as well as a fun antique.

Any opinions as to the sanity of this would be appreciated. Any particular 3pt vendor the best?

Mike, I don't know if it'll fit or not, but if you have a flat operator's platform, you might keep an eye open for a Monroe 3-pt. Apparently, they were put on the back of jeeps, to make them more versatile, they're a slick little unit. I have one on a tractor I just started to restore. It's a total kit, with front pump, fender mounted reservoir and pump. I don't have any other info on dates built, but my tractor is a '49. I would imagine that it was developed after the war, with all the surplus jeeps available. Just an idea.

Your sanity will quickly go away if you try a 3 pt on this old standard tread. They were never intended to have 3 pt. Not near enough room for all that stuff on the back end!.
