Need an alternative for an AB2687R light switch. Deere subs this several times and wants to rip me off with a $70 switch and a piece of wire. This switch had two positions ,first position was high charge and 2nd was lights. Any Ideas? Thanks Don

Went down this road a few years back with a 47 long hood, SN 580000 range. Ordered one from Deere. Had heart failure. Took notice of the DELCO part number. Thought I'd be smart & work around Deere's mark up. Have a friend that worked in a parts store. I gave him the DELCO number. He said sure! I'll order it tomorrow & he did. 2 days later DELCO notified him that this was a Deere EXCLUSIVE part and is not available by any other means. To top it all off, the new one had a round resistor where the old one had a flat one wound over a mica core. The new one would not fit into the long hood's dash! GRRR. The dealer got to keep my money, the H got the new switch & the A got the old H's switch. Good luck.

Sorry I didnt tell what tractor this was for . It fits an "A". The first position was to make the generator charge more then when you pulled it to the first "click" . Pulled on out the lights came on . I think it must have grounded the fields as the black wire was hooked to the load terminal of the regulator and then to this switch.

Careful not to mix a pony diesel switch with a gasoline switch. It's no fun to turn the lights on at dark & have the engine quit with the lights on.

Need more info. If this was for a 2-cyl tractor, chances are that the bright contacts are a direct connection, while the dims connect through a resistor (mounted right on the back of the switch). You might salvage you old switch if it's the resistor that's bad. A good automotive electrical shop could probably help you select and mount a new resistor.

The local NAPA dealer is usually a good place to start. From there, maybe a salvage yard, but you're taking a chance there with a "dunno if it works" part.

My 2 cents.
