I am attempting to overhaul the transmission on my 1949 Model B and cannot get the 4th/6th speed gear off of the shaft. I have a puller and am using a 4' cheater bar trying to get the thing to pop loose. Any suggestions?

JDMan, I presume you have pulled the nut off. After pulling the nut put it back on loosley and use a good sized gear puller on the gear & tighten it to a point that you don't dare put any more pressure on it, then rap the puller on the end of the stud that you tightened, if rapping & tightening it a number of times won't budge it you will probably have to use a little heat on the gear hub to free it. Caution! don't use any more heat than you have to to free it & confine the heat to the hub area. I have pulled a number of these gears & don't remember that they came off very hard, but I am in the early stages of "C.R.S."

Thanks for the info. I am at the C.R.S. stage myself. Terrible isn't it?
