My father has a 3020 with power steering problems. The front wheels will turn unexpectedly. The steering wheel travel ends up being opposite of the way it needs to be to bring the wheels back. You must hold the wheel to let fluid catch up to turn the front wheels back.We believe there is a bad o-ring , but are unsure which one or where it is located.Any help would be appreciated. Kevin in Kidder,M0.

The steering motor can be checked by taking off the leak off line at the top oil cooler tank. You have to remove the hood, loosen clamp and pull hose off barb. Put cap on nipple to plug if and take hose out the left radiator screen. Start engine and steer to the left and right. If you get more than a few drops of oil out the hose the steering motor is bad. If it doesn`t leak the steering valve is defective and needs rebuilt.

Think the steering pump at the end of the steering column is at fault. take it out and have JD repair it.
