I once has a 50A that suffered from the same affliction. The Ford dealer that took it in on trade was ready to send it to the scrap yard. I could turn on the fuel at the tank & by the time you could walk around behind, climb up on it & hit the starter pedal it was already flooded. Turn the gas off @ the tank, let it all drain then crank 'till the flooding was gone and it would start & run fine 'till it ran out of gas. If I turned it back on just before it died it would recover and run fine but only for a few momments. Then it would flood & die. Turned out to be the fuel bowl vent was plugged. If I loosened the big nut on the bottom it all worked fine. Of course it leaked at the bottom but it told me there was a chamber of trapped air that forced the fuel through the fuel needles and into the engine before it was high enough to float the float. Took out ALL the brass plugs, drilled out ALL the holes, put it all back together, started up, ran fine & I drove it home. That was over 20 years ago & it's still putting strong. Hope this helps.

We checked the float and needle valve, appears to be o.k. Just sitting, fuel does not flow, but when you try to start it, cylinders flood. Loosened carb connection to intake and tried to start, fuel pours out at that connection and tractor does start for a few seconds. But when you tightened everything down it floods over again. Any suggestions? We're stumped.

darren, try starting it with the air cleaner bottom oil cup removed, that will by-pass a waterlogged air cleaner or a plugged air cleaner.

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you guys. You will never guess what it was.... the choke in side the carb was froze and stuck , after we opened it up and put it all back together it started right up. Thanks to all for all your suggestions. If we have any other problems I will be sure to get a hold of you guys. Thanks again!

Unbolt the air inlet from the front of the carb, make sure the choke is open, and try it with the air tube blocked away from the carb. Have you checked the connections under the little cup on the L.H. side of the carb? Sometimes the pin will jump over the stop. If the choke is open, and the air inlet tube is away from the carb, and it still floods, you may have a crack in the stem of the carb.

I wouldn't have replied except I loved the old B.It was what we all learned to "drive tractor" on.If a kid got in trouble you could just run it down and hop on and pull the clutch. That was 25(or so)years ago. You've got fuel, got fire.As Clooney suggested, you checked,it can breathe.Choke sticking, fuel gone bad?Water should show up in sediment bowl?Still ,just curious as to what you find.Have a chance to buy back the old family B before it goes to the scrapyard. It'll need a lot of work.
