I may be hauling two or three tractors from the midwest area to the northwest part of the country later in the summer. I am wondering what would be a fair rate to all parties involved, both one-way or with a backhaul. This is not an advertisement, I just want to be fair to everyone. I have a heavy diesel pickup and gooseneck trailer. Thanks in advance for any help. Mike

Hey Mike, When my buddy hauled recently with a pickup and gooseneck trailer (whats referred to as "Hot Shotters") he charged $1.00 per loaded mile. However, that is more like a commercial rate but it is pretty well accepted for those kinds of loads and equipment. I say that is a starting point and then you can go up or down from there as needed with more miles maybe being cheaper per mile or whatever youre comfy with. I am not yet sure if I am giving any presentations at Expo X and if not I will not go opting instead to go to Expo 11 next yesr in Michigan. Are you going ??? Your buddy, Ol John T in Indiana

John, I didn't realize Expo 11 was to be in Michigan. I might be interested in submitting my H for it. When is it & where. How do I go about submitting my tractor for display? Thanks, Paul

Paul, if you subscribe to Two Cylinder Magazine, it will give the details later on, its way way too early now to worry about it as they just announced it will be somewhere in Michigan in 2001. John T

Hey John, from most of the e-mails I have received it seems somewhere in the neighborhood of $1.00 is the "going rate". I am a little surprised by that, as that seemed to be the rate before fuel got so high. Yes, I am planning to go to the Expo, but I'm not sure which day. I know we've talked about this before, but it would be great if several of us "posters" could get together one of the days and meet each other and possibly do something. Thanks for the info. Mike

Mike, if you're coming to the northwest, I'm just over the line in the Canadian southwest. If you have too many tractors, just drop one here, lots of room for something green ! Have a good trip, Ron

Hey Ron, I have a feeling the buyer might not be amused! These are tractors a friend of mine is selling- I'm just the in-between man. Mike
