Just over-hauled JD 3020 diesel. Problem is oil now leaks out of center exhaust manifold when tractor is running. Complete over haul new liners, pistons, bearings, head work by machinist, crank turned. Any one have solution?

you need to run in the rebuilt engine.could be done with a dyno at 1/2 to 3/4 load for a few hours. can also be done in field work:you should run the tractor under load in a work like tilling or ploughing. do the work in 1 slower gear then usual thus creating approx 1/2 to 3/4 load. monitor temp and oill prss. frequently. avoid prolonged idling (prolonged idling can create oil wetting exhoust even in a run in engine)

Put that engine to work!! You are probably letting it Idle to much . Thats unburned diesel fuel leaking out of the manifold . Put it on a plow or disk or even a dyno. It needs to get hot and pull . Engine temp up to normal is not enough heat. (internal heat) Dont fool around with it or you will wash down the cyl. walls and the rings will not seat. Takes abt. 500 hours to seat the rings. Hope this helps Don
