Does anyone know how much a 620 John Deere with a wide front end weighs? I need to tow one home, and I want to make sure it won't be too much for my 1/2 ton truck to handle. THanks

Just had to add some "stupid - stupid" comments to this. When Dad passed away, my son bought his 1950 Model A. I had to haul it about 35 miles to my place . Borrowed a friends 16" tandem trailor (no brakes). Pulled it behind my 95 Nissan Quest mini-van. Power was good. Braking were not. This was on country roads, but still not something I've ever do again. Put that 620 behind at least a 3/4 truck with trailer brakes !!!!! !

I want to reinforce what Clooney has provided. I have pulled a 1958 JD 620 with wide front end behind my 1996 F150. I do not recommend it at all. My 10,000 lb GVW dual axle trailer with brakes on both axles handled the load well but the truck struggled. I suspect the GVW of tractor and trailer was over 9,000 lbs as my trailer weighs 2500 lbs. I had a load leveler hitch on it too. I wouldn't have even considered it w/o that being used. My trip was about 100 miles and I did not feel comfortable the whole trip. If you do it be very careful and leave lots of room ahead of you. Be careful

mine was 6150 at the local tractor pull the other day i had it on the scale and its a row crop with no extra weight so yours has got to be about 6500 like clooney said, hauled it on a 10,000lb trailer with a 1 ton chevy 4x4 did real good.

Andrew, probably every bit of 6,500 lbs. That will be quite a load for a 1/2 ton truck. ~You will need a good trailer with 4 wheel brakes. A [2 axle brake] equipped 7,500 lb axle standard car hauling trailer won't cut it.
~I have pulled a 620 wide with a 1/2 ton truck before but the trailer must be able to take most of the weight. Even then it isn't a good safe feeling. ~Remember the tractor & trailer together will weigh 8,500 lbs plus so stopping that with a 1/2 ton truck will be wishful thinking if the trailer doesn't have 4 GOOD functioning brakes..
