I just purchased a '58 720 All Fuel. The PTO did not work and the foot clutch had no resistance. We pulled the PTO housing off the back and discovered much to my dissapointment why it did not work. There is no clutch in the tractor! The PTO output shaft and gear are there, and the PTO shaft from the transmittion with the clutch hat is there. Everything else is gone. Anyone know where I can find one reasonable?

Thanks
Jonathan

I recently repaired the worn out pto clutch assembly in my 730. The pto would slip under even moderate loads, couldn't even use the mower. I got an entire used clutch assembly (shaft, springs and 13 clutch plates, 11 discs, end plates, etc.)for $75 from Meyer Tractor Salvage in Aberdeen, SD. Beware though, chances are some of the discs will be worn out, just like on the one they sent me. The pto will most certainly slip when the disc linings are worn away on more than a couple. When I called them about it, they sent another assembly at no extra charge and said to keep the first one. Between the two, I was able to make one nearly new unit that was ready to install when I took the tractor apart. When I got the old one out, it too had about half the discs worn out. All 3 units had bad discs and/or warped plates on the forward end.

Hope this helps, the moral of the story is that if yours is missing, you may have to get two used ones to make one good one. New discs and plates were in the $11 to $13 range (each) and can be had aftermarket. Good luck!

Thanks,

What did you do with your old parts? I dont mind
buying new disks, I need everything else. The intire clutch assembly is missing. I need a all of it: the shaft, the end plates, the adjuster, the throughout collar, everything. If you kept all the left overs from your extra assemblies I would be interested in purchasing them. If not, how can I get in touch with the folks you baught yours from?

Thanks again,
Jonathan
