Here is some info from Don MacMillan's book, "John Deere Tractors and Equipment - Volume Two" 8010: 9 speed transmission, 6 cylinder w/ 4.50 bore & 5.00 stroke, 425 CID, 2100 rpm, 120" wheelbase, 23.1-26 rear tires, no Nebraska test but estimated hp was 150, weight with ballast was 24,860 lbs. Couldn't find any info in this detail on the 8020 in that book, but here is some narrative from another section of the book: "The first indication to the farming community that the company was considering a move away from the long-lived and long-loved 2-cylinder concept had occurred in 1959 at the John Deere Field Day at Marshalltown, Iowa with the announcement of the giant 4-wheel-drive tractor with 200-plus engine horsepower. This massive 19,700-lb. machine was 8'2" high to the top of the steering wheel, 8' wide, and 19'7" long from stem to stern. The 8010 had a General Motors 671E 2-cycle 6-cylinder diesel engine driving a 9-forward speed transmission with speeds from 2 to 18 mph. The tractor had articulated power steering and air brakes for easy control. However, it was ahead of its time; the market was not ready for anything this big. One tractor was sold in 1960, and only one hundred 8010 and 8020 tractors in the seven years of sales".
