Larry A "G" flat head will have no combustion chamber also it will have casting # F48R or F485R the later is the better of the two heads, more coolant better valve positioning, also there is a F551R head for styled "G"s some call the cylone heads, then there's the Kansas "G" head, flat huge valves and spark plugs in head, these are extremely qualitiy heads. Later Gman P.S when you refer to a John Deere "G" you should always put Quotation marks fore and aft of the "G" sort like reverence.

Always remember that a question is only a stupid question to somebody that THINKS he knows everything. And that changes the first time he asks one!!! I have lived what seems to me to be a few lifetimes and I still believe that you have not lived a full day unless you learn at least one more thing everyday and since I got the internet and found all these discussion boards, I have learned A LOT!!

Its a G with a flat cylinder head from or on a unstyled G. This means the head has no chambers it is flat.A styled G has a thick head that has chambers cast in. If you put a flat head on a styled block it boosts the compression quite a bit
