A little more umph for my 50

I took my 50 to a tractor pull last fall and had a lot of fun. I had fluid in the tires and weighed in at 5850 lbs. I was pulling against bigger tractors like a 60 and a G and an IH 460. I plan to get rid of the fluid and drop down a class. My question is, are their any small modifications I can do to gain a few extra horses? The motor was just redone with .090 over aliminum Clevite pistons. I have never touched the carb and wondered if anyone rebuilds carbs for 2 cylinders that could gain some HP without sacrificing drivability or can recommend anything else that will still let me use it every day and take it to a couple of pulls a year?

The highest HP to weight ratio will will win all other things equal if you can travel faster. A dry tire with say 250lbs of cast weights on the outside will out pull a tire with 250lbs of fluid inside. Won't wreck the rim, valve stem and any paint that gets splattered with that %^$#@ calcuim. A dry element air cleaner and the proper carb jetting will up the HP with a straight pipe exhaust and a few more RPM. Firestone "Traction Field & Road" 23 degree bar tires will outpull anything but a radial tire as well. Balance your tractor to have the front wheels just bairly on the bround as your spin out of course. The max height for drawbar and shorter for less bending is better if the weight will still transfer off the front.

i wasnt looking for more power on my 520 but i got a increase by mod. both intake and exust. mine were totally rusted and broke when i tried to yake them off.not wanting to spend many$$$$$$ i fabed new intake and exhaust headers from standared 1.5 inch header pipe and flanges. i dont have carb heat any more but a little iso heat in the gas seems to do the trick. i suppose you might run into original epq.trouble at pulls depending on the rulls.mine never leaves the farm so i dont care ED
