I have a 3020 gas with a Marvel carburator # USX31. Like to get it replaced or rebuilt. Or would a USX 36 be better. And does anyone know who specializes in rebuilding them. Several people told me these Marvel carbs are junk. PLEASE HELP
Greg

Greg, The reason people thought that these carburetors were junk was because they were different and they were not smart enough to work on them!! There is nothing wrong with the Marvel Schriebler carburetor if it is in shape. Some parts are getting hard to get. There is nothing wrong with a Zenith either but they to will wear out just like the Schriebler will. When the acceleration bore wears out in the Zenith there is really no fix for it other than replacing the carburetor, as where the Marvel Schriebler you can replace the diaphragm and nozzles as needed which is allot cheaper than buying a new carburetor. Both these carburetor worn in this area will smoke more than a diesel at low idle and you will foul plugs all the time. Just take your carburetor to a knowledgeable repair shop and you will be OK. I would not recommend Central Tractor for rebuilt carburetors as I have seen plenty that wouldn't make good salvage parts in my shop. Good Luck!! Dave Wickman
